SkyFi Project Ribbon Cutting was February 25!
Blount County Public Library announced the launch of the SkyFi Project, an initiative to install solar-powered Wi-Fi charging tables at accessible locations in the community.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Arconic Foundation to the Blount County Friends of the Library, the first two tables have been installed at the rear of the library. The tables generate and store solar electricity, allowing users to charge devices and access the internet any time of day.
The Rotary Club of Maryville is raising funds to install two additional tables at the Alcoa Duck Pond and is $3,000 away from meeting their goal for these next tables.
The Blount County Public Library Board of Trustees and staff gave thanks for partners in the project including the three library funding bodies (Blount County Government, the City of Maryville and the City of Alcoa), the Arconic Foundation, the Rotary Club of Maryville and the Blount County Friends of the Library. Businesses, organizations, and individuals interested in learning more about the SkyFi Project should contact K.C. Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ari Baker (email@example.com).
