KAREN WENTZ ON WOMEN IN ROTARY

We have and have had a strong female presence in the Maryville Rotary Club. Past Rotary International Director Karen Wentz will bring us up to speed. She writes: “Rick and Mavis Zielgler asked me to do a program about myexperiences in Rotary focusing on my roles as a woman in a male-dominated Rotary world. I have been a Rotarian since 1990, just three years after women were first admitted to Rotary, so I have seen women’s roles in Rotary unfold. I was often the first woman to hold certain offices. I’ll talk about both overt and subtle insidious discrimination. Overall, Rotary has been welcoming to me with some subtle limitations. Rotary around the world still has a long way to go to approach gender equity.”
